Two people were injured in a three-vehicle collision near Turpin on Thursday, May 13th, at 11:27 a.m. The crash happened on US-83, just south of the US-83 and US-64 intersection.
A pickup truck driven by 40-year-old Rodrigo Romero Ornela was traveling southbound on US-83 when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound semi-truck driven by 30-year-old Robert Alexander Dea II. The impact caused Ornela’s vehicle to roll and hit another northbound vehicle driven by 56-year-old Tammie Darlene Lowe. Ornela’s truck came to rest on top of Lowe’s vehicle in a ditch.
Ornela sustained leg and arm injuries, and he was transported to Southwest Medical Hospital in Liberal, KS, and was later taken to Northwest Medical Hospital in Amarillo, TX. He was reportedly in stable condition.
Lowe was transported to Southwest Medical Hospital with leg and arm injuries in stable condition. Dea was not injured in the collision.
