A multi-vehicle accident occurred in Pottawatomie County early Friday morning, May 7th. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 177 and East 1350 Road, near Asher.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a northbound vehicle on U.S. Highway 177 crossed the centerline and crashed into a southbound vehicle head-on. The impact caused the northbound vehicle to roll, land in a ditch, and catch fire.

Sadly, the male driver and his passenger of the northbound vehicle were declared dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle, 55-year-old James Cravens, of Shawnee, was also killed in the collision. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

Two passengers in Cravens’ vehicle, a 54-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male, were both transported to OU Medical Center for treatment.
