A Grove woman died in a head-on collision in Ottawa County on Saturday, April 24th. The crash happened on East 50 Road, two miles east and two miles north of Peoria, near the Oklahoma-Missouri state line.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a man traveling westbound on East 50 Road crossed the centerline, hitting a car driven by 38-year-old Karla Barton.
Sadly, Barton was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.
A 14-year-old passenger in Barton’s vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a Joplin, Missouri hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to a Joplin hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
