One Injured in Newcastle Three-Vehicle Collision

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision on Tuesday, March 30th, at approximately 11:30 a.m. The crash happened on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, at mile marker 106, in Newcastle.

According to the OHP, 48-year-old Chad James, of Chickasha, was driving a semi-truck when he attempted to merge into traffic from the shoulder. A westbound truck driven by 60-year-old Joseph Thompson, of Edmond, rear-ended the semi and veered to the left. A westbound SUV driven by 73-year-old Beatrice Trammell, of Chickasha, attempted to avoid the truck but struck the passenger side.

Thompson sustained leg injuries and was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in serious condition. Trammell refused treatment at the scene. Passenger, 73-year-old Billy Trammell, was not injured. James was also uninjured in the accident.

Investigation into the crash is ongoing. More information will be provided as it is reported.
