The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon, March 11th. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 259, south of Idabel.
The OHP reported 38-year-old Sean Scales, of Idabel, was traveling south when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a car driven by 51-year-old Sonya Deaton, also of Idabel.
Scales was reportedly trapped inside his vehicle for nearly 20 minutes before he could be freed from the wreckage. He was transported to McCurtain Memorial Hospital, where sadly, he did not survive his injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.
Deaton was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport in critical condition.
