A fatal crash on Interstate 35 left one person dead and several others injured on Monday, February 8th. The accident was located on northbound I-35 on the Cimarron River bridge, just north of Guthrie.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision involved six vehicles. Three semi-trucks and three passenger vehicles were traveling over an icy Cimarron River bridge when the crash occurred.

Tragically, 51-year-old Kelly D. Hillhouse lost her life in the collision. Authorities reported she was trapped in her vehicle for close to six hours before she could be rescued from the wreckage by the Guthrie Fire Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.

Others involved in the accident reported injuries. Vincent G. Dufek, 21, of Austin, Texas, was transported to OU Medical Center in critical condition. Dufek was treated for head, arm, leg, and internal and external trunk injuries.

Stephen S. Headley, a 67-year-old from Missouri, was also transported to OU Medical Center in critical condition. Headley was treated for head and internal trunk injuries.

Four others involved in the crash were uninjured. Shelia Gates, 53, of Oklahoma City, and her passenger Byron Warner, 26, were both unharmed. Gerardo Dominguez, a 54-year-old from El Paso, Texas, was not injured. Additionally, Yusuf A. Mohamud, 37, from Minnesota, was also not harmed.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Reports have speculated the icy roadway conditions played a role in the accident.
