An auto accident in Carter County left one woman dead on the evening of January 10th.
Dyrenda Ankney, 36, was a passenger in a car driven by a 16-year-old traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 70, near Wilson. The 16-year-old driver attempted a left turn, heading north onto State Highway 76 when the vehicle was hit by another car traveling westbound on U.S. 70.
Sadly, Ankney was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old driver was transported to OU Children’s Hospital and was reportedly admitted in good condition.
The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
