Alleged Drunk Driver Severely Injures Woman in Head-On Crash

A head-on collision severely injured a woman in Pottawatomie County on January 21st, around 6 p.m. Michaela Powers, 25, was driving home from work when a truck, driven by 21-year-old Richard Jackson Jr. of Texas, ran a stop sign and hit her head-on. Jackson Jr. was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The collision was located in southern Pottawatomie County, near State Highway 39 and U.S. 177 intersection in Asher. Thankfully, an Asher police officer and a nurse witnessed the crash and were able to assist.

Powers sustained severe injuries but is expected to recover.

Jackson Jr. was arrested at the scene on complaints of driving under the influence and carrying firearms under the influence.
