On Behalf of | Dec 28, 2020 | Car Accidents In The News |

A five-vehicle crash along I-35 in Purcell claimed the life of a Nichols Hills man on December 4th.  The car crash occurred near mile marker 93 in Purcell, McClain County.  The deceased man was driving in traffic, slowed due to construction, when a tractor-trailer failed to stop for the slowed traffic.  That tractor-trailer struck four vehicles, including the deceased.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was released from the Purcell Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.  The cause is currently listed as inattentive driving.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased as well as everyone else affected by the accident.

Did you know that in 2019 there were 100 fatal or injury car accidents in McClain County (Purcell, Lexington, Blanchard, Newcastle)?   Of the 139 total people that were injured, sadly 10 of those died as a result of their injuries.  Most of those potential wrongful death accidents occurred on I-35, or on Highway 9.  Highway 59, in the Southern part of McClain County, also was the site of three of the fatality accidents.
