Justice Tip Against You

Pay attention to facts and presentation methods in your defense

Facing murder charges can mean that your own life is on the line if that charge is in the first degree. This is a serious matter because you can end up behind bars for the remainder of your natural life. When you are in this position, you have to think carefully about what you are going to do. There are usually several options that you can explore in these cases.

I've been charged with DUI -- what are my defense options?

Drunk driving is not something that the state of Oklahoma takes lightly. If you have received a DUI charge, the consequences associated with a conviction can take a real toll on your life. Thankfully, a criminal charge does not mean the guarantee of a conviction. There may be one or more ways to fight the charges against you.

Commercial drunk driving charges can end careers

Commercial drivers are held to a higher standard when it comes to drinking and driving. This is due in part to federal laws that govern these drivers. Instead of having a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 percent like noncommercial drivers, people who have a CDL have a BAC limit of only .04 percent. Additionally, federal regulations state that commercial drivers can't operate a vehicle within four hours from the time they stop consuming alcohol.

Drug cases aren't as minor as some might think

Drug charges of all types are serious matters that you must address quickly. The issue with some of these is that the defendants don't think of them as anything serious. They aren't thinking about how these charges can impact their career and life. This mistake can lead to them making poor decisions regarding their defense.

Medical marijuana doesn't mean everyone can have it

Even though many places have decriminalized marijuana, it is still possible to face criminal charges because of this drug in Oklahoma. The state has approved the use of medical marijuana for people with qualifying conditions, but this doesn't mean that just anyone can have it on them. Oklahoma still has laws that classify marijuana as an illegal drug. Plus, it is still illegal on a federal level.
