A woman who was convicted for her role in the 1978 deaths of nine people, including six workers at an Oklahoma City steakhouse, has been denied parole.

Pardon and Parole Board Executive Director Terry Jenks says the board voted unanimously on Thursday to reject parole for Verna Stafford.

Stafford’s former husband, Roger Dale Stafford, was found guilty of six slayings at a Sirloin Stockade steakhouse and the deaths of an Air Force airman, his wife and son. Roger Stafford was executed in 1995.

Verna Stafford pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors to two second-degree murder charges and is serving two life sentences.

The board was considering paroling her from the first life sentence.

Jenks says she won’t be eligible for parole again for three years.
