A Bray man turned the gun on himself Saturday after wounding both his parents, Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney said.

Marvin Tow, 45, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the temple, McKinney said. Official cause of death was not available late Monday from the state medical examiner’s office.

William Tow, 78, was shot twice in the head and his wife, Lena Tow, was shot once in the face, McKinney said.

McKinney said Marvin Tow shot the couple about 9 p.m. Saturday in the midst of a family argument.

William Tow was listed in good condition Monday at OU Medical Center.

Lena Tow was treated for injuries and released from a hospital, McKinney said. Her age was not available.

A Seminole murder suspect was arrested in Garvin County on Monday, authorities said.

Adam John Rollins, 28, was arrested along State Highway 29 about 4 p.m., a Pauls Valley police dispatcher said. The precise location of the arrest was not known.

Rollins is wanted for questioning in connection with the Thursday shooting death of his girlfriend, Shiloh Mitchell, Seminole County Undersheriff Todd Hignite said.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Seminole home about 12:45 p.m. Thursday and found Mitchell, 24, in a travel trailer parked in the driveway. She had been shot multiple times in the chest, Hignite said.

Pauls Valley police said they were tipped off early Friday that Rollins was staying at a home in the area, and his car was found Friday afternoon at the Love’s station along Interstate 35 at the Pauls Valley exit. Police surrounded the home and called for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s tactical team. But no one was there when officers entered the home.

A Hominy man pleaded no contest to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years for the 1997 death of a teenage girl, prosecutor Mike Fisher said.

Jeffrey Scott Garrison, 42, entered the plea June 16 in Osage County District Court in the death of 16-year-old Amy Lee Schlock Hays.

District Judge Bruce David Gambill sentenced him to 40 years with 20 years suspended and ordered Garrison to pay $5,000 in restitution for burial expenses.

Hays had been missing for two weeks when her body was found July 2, 1997, in an abandoned Hominy motel with a strip of an American flag wrapped around her neck.

An autopsy showed that Hays died from strangulation.

Garrison was charged in 2008 after DNA evidence from a hair found at the motel connected him to the death.

Fisher said the Hays family was in agreement with the plea agreement and sentence.

Authorities think Hays was killed on June 18, 1997.

Hays was last seen walking home from a friend’s house, and Garrison was seen walking about a block behind her, said Pamela Hammers of the Oklahoma District Attorney Council’s office.

Hammers was assigned to the case after District Attorney Rex Duncan was called up for active military duty.

During Garrison’s preliminary hearing, witnesses testified the then 29-year-old Garrison said he was going to follow the teenager to make sure she got home OK.

A month after Hays’ body was found, Garrison was sentenced to 15 years on theft charges, of which he served eight, according to state Correction Department records.

One man died after a fistfight that was captured on video and another from a single punch in a bar fight.

The fights occurred separately, days apart in adjacent Seminole and Ponotoc counties.

Bill Croft, 58, of Cromwell, collapsed and died in his house about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday after fighting with Charles Kiplinger, 41 outside the house.

Gary Fox, 38, died after being punched in the face by Jeremiah Pool, 31, in a bar between Allen and Ada.

Both cases are under investigation.

A witness videotaped the fight between Croft and Kiplinger with a digital camera, Seminole County Undersheriff Todd Hignite said.

About 10 a.m. Wednesday, Kiplinger surrendered at the Cleveland County jail in Norman.

Kiplinger’s pickup was found near Croft’s house, but he fled after the fight.

Hignite said he did not know what the fight was over, but Croft apparently fell and hit his head during the fight as one of his acquaintances videotaped it.

The videotape will not be released and is being held as evidence in the case, Hignite said.

“All we know at this point in time is it was an altercation,” Hignite said.

The state medical examiner’s office has received Croft’s body, but a spokeswoman said an autopsy had not been started Wednesday morning.

Another death

Fox was punched one time by Pool on the dance floor at Outlaws bar early Sunday, Ponotoc County Sheriff John Christian said.

Pool claims it was self-defense and has not been arrested, Christian said.

Christian said Pool told investigators Fox swung at him first, then he struck back and Fox fell and hit his head on the concrete floor of the bar.

Witnesses so far have told a similar story, Christian said.

Christian said the two apparently argued because of something Pool supposedly said about Fox’s dead brother-in-law, Jeffery Walls, 28, of Roff.

Walls died May 7.

An Oklahoma man on trial for first-degree murder in Arkansas has told the jury he should be convicted of manslaughter.

Walter Lee Walton of Muldrow is representing himself in the trial in Sebastian County Circuit Court in Fort Smith. He’s charged in the September stabbing death of 27-year-old Jeremy Travis of Fort Smith.

A local newspaper reports that Walton told the jury in his opening statement Monday that he never intended for Travis to die. He has said he was suffering an “emotional disturbance” when he attacked Travis.

Investigators say Walton killed Travis after learning his girlfriend was having an affair with Travis and Travis denied the affair.

Walton faces either 10 to 40 years or life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.

A first-degree murder charge has been filed in Oklahoma against a convicted killer in Missouri who confessed in a letter to authorities that she strangled a Muskogee woman in 1994.

Forty-six-year-old Odessa Brown was charged Wednesday in Muskogee County District Court in the death of 83-year-old Elonora Riley.

Court records do not list an attorney for Brown. She’s currently serving life in prison in Missouri for second-degree murder.

Riley was found dead in her home in Muskogee. Her death was considered due to natural causes until Brown’s letters were sent to the Muskogee County district attorney’s office and the county sheriff’s office last November.

District Attorney Larry Moore told a local newspaper that efforts are under way to bring Brown to Oklahoma for arraignment.

An Oklahoma City man faces murder and child abuse charges in connection with the death of his daughter.

Sean Devon Brooks, 31, was charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with first degree murder and felony child abuse. He is accused of killing Serenity Deal, 5, at a northeast Oklahoma City apartment complex where the two lived.

Serenity had multiple bruises on her body and face, the state Medical Examiner’s office reported.

Brooks told police Serenity fell to the floor with a convulsion after he helped her out of the shower.

Brooks was granted sole custody of the girl in April after Serenity’s mother was accused of molesting a 10 year old boy. Her mother, Samantha Ann Deal, 36, of Chandler is set to be sentenced July 5.

Serenity’s maternal grandmother tried to adopt the girl, according to court records.

Police released the 911 tape Friday from the homicide of a man who police say was pushed from an apartment on the 25th story of a high rise building this week.

Amber Michelle Hilberling, 19, was arrested in the death of her husband, Joshua Hilberling, 23, who fell 17 stories Tuesday from the University Club Apartments tower at 1722 S. Carson Ave. to a parking garage.

Canadian County authorities have scheduled an Oct. 3 trial date for a man accused of killing his girlfriend and her four children.

Assistant District Attorney Paul Hesse said Wednesday officials set the trial date for 28-year-old Joshua Steven Durcho.  Durcho faces five counts of  first-degree murder in the deaths of 25-year-old Summer Rust and her children, 7-year-olds Kirsten and Autumn Rust; 4-year-old Teagin Rust and 3-year-old Evynn Garas.

Their bodies were discovered on Jan. 12, 2009, at their El Reno apartment.

They also allege Durcho killed the woman to keep her from contacting police about two outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of driving under the influence of drug possession.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

A Chandler woman who pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the heat death of a toddler has received a three-year suspended sentence.

Prosecutors charged 21-year-old Jessica Lorene Holmes after two-year-old Atrinity Hasbell died when she was left in a hot minivan on May 25, 2010.  The temperature was around 90 that day.

The toddler’s mother says Holmes, who was her roommate, was to have dropped Atrinity off at a Meeker day care when Holmes left her two sons there.  But when the woman returned to pick up their children, Atrinity was not at the day care and the woman found her in the van.

A local newspaper reports Lincoln County District Judge Cindy Ashwood sentenced Holmes after prosecutors agreed to the suspended sentence.  Records show Atriniti’s family consented to the sentence.
